FAQs

Righteous Babe FAQS

Q: What is the best way to contact Righteous Babe?

A: Visit our contact page and send us an email. Or send us a letter at Righteous Babe Records, 83 Morse St, Floor 2, Norwood, MA 02062

Q: Can I come to the actual label and buy things from Righteous Babe?

A: No, sorry our merch is processed through Norwood, MA

Q: Do you have a street team or is there any way I could help spread the word about Righteous Babe?

A: We do not have a street team but if you are interested in spreading the love for Ani or any of our other artists the best way is through social networking, just sharing, posting and tweeting about our artists really helps out.

Q: Are you hiring?

A: No, we are not currently hiring but thank you so much for thinking of us.

Q: Do you take interns?

A: We have in the past, but we are pretty small and don't have a lot of opportunities at this time. If we did we would need a resume and cover letter to info (at) righteousbabe.com.

Q: I am an awesome musician can I send you my album so you can sign me to your label?

A: Yes, you can send us your album. In fact we will never say no to getting mail from creative people because it’s awesome! However before you send us your work let’s be upfront. Righteous Babe does not have an A&R department.  When you send us an album it goes into a box and people around the label listen to it at their leisure. If you send us your music and we love it, we will get in touch with you.  Please do not follow up on what we think of what you sent. We are a small label and we have a lot of things to do so although we would love to give feedback we are just too busy. Also please note we have never signed a band based on a demo. The best way to get signed to RBR is to go out and play live shows, establish a fan base, and create a stir.

Q: How can I get on your mailing list to be notified of upcoming releases and tour dates?

A: You can sign up for the mailing list here.

Q: How do I start a record label?

A: There are plenty of great “how to’s” out there, try looking on the internet or your local bookstore.  With us it was a lot of trial and error.  Best of luck!

Q: Will Ani ……sing me happy birthday, play my favorite song, give my fianc a shout out, tap dance while reciting the declaration of independence, etc…..at her next show?

A: Ani has worked very hard to keep her creative freedom which is why we never ask her to do anything at her shows.  When you see Ani perform she is playing the songs she personally chose and talking about what she feels like talking about. So although we would like to hear Ani cover “Little Red Corvette” as much as the next person we will never ask her to do it, however we do hope you will still enjoy the show!

Store FAQS

Q: Do you sell gift cards?

A: Yes, gift cards are delivered by email and contain instructions to redeem them at checkout. Gift cards have no additional processing fees.

Q: Can I order over the phone?

Yes, if you prefer to place your order by telephone: please contact us toll free at: 1-800-onherown

(1-800-664-3769), Monday - Friday between [9AM - 4PM EST]. Please note you must have a credit card to order over the phone.

Q: How are your orders processed?

Most orders are processed and shipped within 48 business hours. Sometimes we will run into an issue where we have to go to a different warehouse to get items or our store babe will need a day off but all orders are sent out within 4 business days.  We offer same day shipping for Overnight/Next Day orders placed by 1PM Monday - Friday. You must call 1-800-onherown (1-800-664-3769) to request Overnight / Next Day delivery, additional shipping prices will apply.

Overnight/Next-Day shipping is unavailable for International Orders. International orders are responsible for all duties and taxes incurred upon delivery.

Please keep in mind that Righteous Babe Records is a small company doing its own shipping, we are not Amazon. We only ship things out Monday-Friday from 10-5pm Eastern. If you order something on Friday and you need it by Monday or Tuesday you should probably call first and arrange special shipping.

Q: What type of payments do you accept?

A credit card is necessary to place orders over the Internet and by phone. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. For info on ordering by mail, please call 1-800-onherown

Q: How are international orders sent?

Most orders are shipped via USPS Air Mail. Due to international customs, your package may be delayed. With heightened security on packages crossing borders, delays exceeding one month are not uncommon. Please allow ample delivery time for orders being shipped overseas. Please note that the customer is responsible for all duties and taxes incurred upon delivery. We will not reship international orders until 6 weeks after the original order date.  We are not trying to be mean but often times we will reship an order only to find out the next week that it finally reached its destination- customs is slow and shipping is expensive so we like to play it safe.

Q: What are your shipping rates?

Shipping charges are based on the weight of each product and its destination

Q:  Why don't you sell plus sizes?

We sell up to size 3XL. If there is another size you need or have questions please email us at store(at)righteousbabe.com

Q: You claim to be a feminist record label but then you order your t-shirts from American Apparel which is run by a CEO accused multiple times of sexual harassment, what gives?

We are also upset about the claims of sexual harassment at American Apparel. We also are not fans of their awful ads featuring half naked women sprawled across horses or playing tennis -it’s unnecessary and disturbing. In fact we let our sales rep know that when we cut back our orders it was due to these issues. That being said the whole apparel industry is pretty awful and it is very hard to find companies that make clothes using fair labor practices, fair environmental practices, and are able to provide product at a reasonable price and stay in business. So besides leaving the music business and starting a large apparel company our options are pretty slim.  We are always looking for companies with squeaky clean records unfortunately it is not as easy as it looks with most apparel being made abroad. If you have suggestions of great companies please send them our way: store(at)righteousbabe.com

So in summary and for full disclosure below are companies we use:

American Apparel - Made in the USA meaning they follow US labor and environmental laws, CEO has been accused of sexual harassment, ads are awful, and sizing is tiny.

Alternative Apparel – Not made in the USA but they do claim to be sweatshop free and use fair environmental practices, production moves often so you have to call before ordering apparel to see where styles are currently being manufactured. Prices are also double of most other t-shirt companies so switching exclusively to this company and sticking with our more costly soy based ink and printing would result in much higher prices.

Canvas and Bella - Not made in the USA but they do claim to be sweatshop free and use fair environmental practices, however, it is harder to find information on them.

Anvil Organic - Not made in the USA but they do claim to be sweatshop free and have awesome environmental practices, sizing is more generous. Anvil has been accused of poor labor issues in the past but after reading several reports and contacting the company it appears that all of these issues have been cleared up during the last 5 years.

When shopping you can find out which company the shirt is from by clicking on the link to the size chart.

We hope this clears things up. If you stumble across any helpful articles or companies please email us at store(at)righteousbabe.com
