In anticipation of June 19th, the 60th birthday of the world's only imprisoned Nobel Peace Prize recipient, the US Campaign for Burma is asking leaders around the world to take action to free Aung San Suu Kyi. Modeled on the "Mandela at 70" campaign in 1988, scores of events around the world including demonstrations, self-inflicted house 'arrests', and a US Congress event hope to bring an end to the nearly ten year imprisonment of Aung San Suu Kyi. As you may know, Ani traveled to Thailand and Burma last July to visit refugee camps and meet with pro-democracy activists in an effort to help raise awareness of Burma's struggle for freedom.
